You are being asked to take part in a research project that aims to
characterize teaching gains for university participants in informal science education enviroments.
The project is conducted by the following individuals at the University of Colorado: Dr. Laurel Mayhew and Professor Noah Finkelstein from the Department of Physics, 390 UCB, Boulder, CO 80309-03909 and their research group. Dr. Mayhew can be reached at 303-492-7815. Please contact Dr. Mayhew with any questions or comments about this survey.
Risks and Discomforts
: The risks associated with this study are minimal.
Benefits
: There are no direct benefits for participating in this study. You might benefit from having the opportunity to reflect on issues about teaching and learning in interviews and surveys.
Cost to Participants
: There is no cost to you for participation in this study. You will also not be paid for participation in this study.
Study Withdrawal
: Please understand that your participation is voluntary and that you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time. You have the right to refuse to answer any question(s) for any reason.
Confidentiality
: We will make every effort to maintain the privacy of your data. Your individual privacy will be maintained in all published and written data resulting from the study. Participant names will be replaced with pseudonyms in all write-ups. All data will be the property of the researchers, secured in a locked cabinet in the researcher’s office. All data will be destroyed within five years following the conclusion of the study. Other than the research team, only regulatory agencies such as the Office of Human Research Protections and the University of Colorado Human Research may see your individual data as part of routine audits.
